Berliner Kunstsalon
September 30 - October 06, 2005
- Marius Martinussen (NO)
Following the phenomenal success last year of its first edition, the second
BERLINER KUNSTALON will be held in the Autumn of 2005. It will include 42 exhibitions
as well as 2 special shows curated by Asim Chugthai and Spunk Seipel,
illustrating why Berlin's international reputation as a dynamic centre for the
arts is well deserved.
Spread over 3900 square metres, galleries, artists' networks, art spaces, freelance
curators and other projects will present recent works by contemporary artists,
beyond the mainstream, not dictated by commercial constraints. The BERLINER
KUNSTSALON was conceived as a complementary programme to the Kunstherbst Berlin
(Art Autumn), providing a forum for discussion and contacts. Visitors are provided
with glimpses into the independent art scene in a way that is not available
anywhere else. "Our priority is, this time around, to show the extent to
which the Berlin art scene is part of networks and, indeed, influences people
and institutions beyond the city" said Edmund Piper, the director of the
BERLINER KUNSTSALON
MARIUS MARTINUSSEN
0047 is proud to present the Norwegian painter Marius Martinussen at
the Berliner Kunstsalon. Martinussen (b. 1978) has since his graduation from
the Trondheim Academy of Fine Arts earned a reputation as one of the most talented
young painters in Norway. In his peculiar style, mixing playful comments on
contemporary culture with a strong sensibility to form and color, Martinussen
will transform the PROJEKT OO47 stand into an imaginary film world. Being introduced
and involved through a 14m set piece mural, the spectators will be presented
to several wide screen format canvases with gleamy and seductive movie still
landscapes.
Now living and working in Berlin, Martinussen has participated in several group
and separate shows both in Norway and abroad. He is represented in collections
such as of the Norwegian Royal Family and The Arts Council Norway. Last year
Martinussen gained a lot of attention from the German press for his mural of
the Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, also done in PROJEKT OO47.
